Yippee! It’s morning. My friend is calling me. Her name is Jenny Wren. She likes to wake me with her bright, cheery song. She likes to sing on my window sill.
I’ll bet if you heard her sing, you would think she is a big bird. But guess what? She is just a teeny tiny little brown bird. Her tail sticks up in the air like this.
My friends the woodpeckers love to eat oatmeal for breakfast. They like it best when it’s still warm. Are you surprised that woodpeckers like oatmeal? They like it so much, that they fly down to me while I’m still serving it. I wish they wouldn’t do that. Have you ever shared your oatmeal with a woodpecker? They’ll be your best friends forever.
Oh, no! Listen to all that noise. It’s those Blue Jays again. They’re fighting over my toast crust. Every morning they fight and screech. They’re such naughty, noisy birds. I like them because they are so pretty. They need to learn to share.
